Mother board
EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775
4 GB of Crucial Ballistix 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Video Card
XFX PVT80GGHD4 GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express
I'm running two hard drives nothing special about them and standard DVD burners, I picked up a cheap power supply for $55.00 its SLI compatible but I'm sure when I get that second video card I'll have to upgrade it. I ran the 3DMark06 here are the stats.
Standard Config 8907
Overclock CPU and card 9892
Not to bad, if you have any questions on the set up let me know, I'm still running XP Pro, haven't decided when I'll switch to Vista.

Ill be scrapping my whole
Ill be scrapping my whole rig save the hard drives. Ill probably get two more raptors and raid them out. But I was wondering where you got that $55 power supply and what brand it is?
I am kinda shy about PS since getting burned by two of them, one literally (ouch).
Ill be part of the XP camp for a while. Nothing really pulling me to Vista as of yet. But tell me if I'm crazy here, i was thinking about getting a laptop with SLI DX-10 cards.. but with XP installed.
Then I could upgrade to Vista when necessary - that plus I would be in the dorms, so less space. And then when it got out of date like 5 weeks later, I could use it as a media rig when I get back to the states...
Here is the info on the
Here is the info on the power supply it’s a 600W Ultra X-Finity PSU through Tigerdirect.com. You can pick it up for $50.00 with the mail in rebate. Its SLI ready, I don’t think it certified by Nvidia, not for that price anyway. I’ll let you know if it can hang in there after I drop in that second video card in. As far as the laptop with the dual video cards I priced some out and just couldn’t afford it. Cheapest was around $2K (for the basic one) if you have the money to burn go for it, all I can say is I think you get more bang for the buck with a desk top unit. Once I drop that second card in the total on mine will be around $1500.00. It would be kind of hard going down in screen size to from a 22” to 17” just some things to think about. I do plan on buying a laptop for Christmas and letting my son use it during the LAN. I’m still going to bring the extra screen and keyboard for him to use, I just can’t get use to those laptop key boards. The specs on it aren’t too bad and I think the end price is going to be around $1300.00. If you need anything else just let me know you can either call me at work or shoot me an email at home. I’ll catch ya later.
I was thinking about going with about the same system....
But what about the p35 vs 680i debate?
I get into computers for about 2 weeks every 2 years just to find out what is awesome, and what is awesome deals...and then buy one.
I guess i'm just starting my 2 week crunch on a new computer, so i really haven't dove head first yet.
The P35 is a good chipset it
The P35 is a good chipset it just depends if your a Nvidia or ATI guy. The P35 is set up for the crossfire but only supports a 16x/4x bus for the video cards. Were as the SLI is a 16x/16x bus for the video cards.
That is the only reason I went with the 680i because of the full 16x bus for both video cards. There both quick and I doubt if you would notices the difference in performance.
At the time I set up my system it was the fastest that I could afford, it just depends on your choice of video cards and how much you want to spend. All I can recommend is make sure to do the research on the parts. Good luck on the build.
on some new shit???
i have a 680i but from what i understand the p35 is a good overclocker even on nvidia chipsets i have talked to a few ppl who love theres the DFI LP UT P35 T2R LGA 775 Intel P35 is one of the highend boards to take a look at if your into Nvidia GFX cards....a few things to consider when looking to upgrade right now is the AMD Phenom 4X4 and 8X8 (5GHz FSB) with processors dropping really soon (wikipedia it), DDR3 out now (1.3 GHz ram clock never hurt), PCIE 2.0 coming soon, Intel Q6600 quadcore being around 300$, Intel E6850, E6750, with the new 1333 FSB..... and the ATI 2900XT HD being around 300$ and it beating or competing with the Nvidia 8800GTX around 700$ on DX10 benchmarks
food for thought good luck
my spec's for questions about OCing hit me up.
