Let's start by saying I had this all typed out before until we had that power outage on the base last week.
I got my hands on the Crysis Beta. Here's a breif rundown of the game. It's about:
62% BF2
20% Counterstrike (buying guns, tanks, etc.)
18% UT (Capture power plants, Factories)
My feelings about it: I don't like it all that much, Maybe if it was a little different and NOT made by EA. This game is just too unoriginal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now we come to the next best thing the LAN will ever play. Enemy Territory:Quake Wars. I LOVE IT!!
Yes it's like BF2...BUT...with a huge twist. One being this...IT'S FASTER! Not too fast but fast enough!. It's not just mindless teamless go capture a control point and reduce the enemy tickets NO! It's missions galor! You can select a mission like "Destroy the Enemy Sewer gate" YES SIR. You and a friend go off and do just that.
It pretty much sums up like a onesided (UT2k4) Onslought with a hit of BF2. I will be brining this demo to the LAN for all of us to play. It's not too system heavy...Crysis however is!.

misconceptions about game publishers....
Well... its a good thing its not made by EA. EA, THQ, and 2K are just publishers, IE they front money for the project and , handle marketing, and collect money. Take a moment and look at your games on your desktop I bet these 3 companies have something to do with them, but if you pay attention to the load screen of these games you will see the real people responsible...Crytek (a small German Developer) is still the one producing the game as far as game play and all the other goodies....you can't blame publishers for a crappy game. DICE fucked up BF2 not EA for example. Without Activision you never would have had your precious COD4...publishers are like the pimps of the gaming world they loan money and collect the shit , they have very little say in the end product...unless a hoe goes rouge and she needs smacked up. (sucky game goes unchecked)...EA dumps millions into our favorite sequels allowing us to play C&C 3 which would have never been, they pick up the tattered, broken and new upcoming developers and let there dreams be realized...Hellgate London for example...Flagship Studios is the remnants of the Blizzard team that developed Diablo....without money and a publisher you can kiss a fantastic game good buy. Examples= Gas Powered Games (SUPCOM) via THQ, Bioshock via 2K,...though there is almost a monopoly of giants in the publishing world with a few exceptions of Bethesda (FALLOUT 3)...and lest I forget Blizzard the scourge of the gaming industry.
Good games are fuckin expensive to make these days...
